Happy Holidays to You All.
The holiday season is upon us. Have you noticed any changes in your behavior this year?
It could be you have sent or received an e-card this year. Or perhaps have shopped online for gifts, or used a mobile app to track Santa or your parcels.
Technology is significantly altering our behavior. In the build up to this Christmas and new year 2012, this feeling has become even more prominent for us.
But it’s not just kids’ stuff that is changing. More and more people are shopping online or through their mobile this year. According to comScore, a web-tracking firm, consumer spending rose 15 percent in the US since last year.
Mobile shoppers are also playing a key role in the growth, according to Network World. Thanks to the recent boom of mobile apps and handset capability, m-commerce as it is known is gaining interest among retailers. A study by Motricity showed that 70% of mobile device-shoppers made more purchases from their smartphone in 2011 than they did in 2010.
Mobile phones are also increasingly used this season to track the gifts which are increasingly buying online or with our phones. All the major shipping companies have mobile apps. UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS have basic tracking components in their apps.
What’s driving these shifts? My guess would be online presence, connectivity and the fact that our behavior is being shaped by an access-anywhere, consume everywhere mentality.
Mappiah Wish you all a Happy Holidays and limitless New Year 2012 to all or customers and partners.
